This Lays ad looks like a simple way to advertise a potato chip, just a phrase and a few words with a nice background. The phrase is clever as it draws your attention. It not only implies that the inside of the bag is the way we want it, we imagine ourselves with our hand in the bag to satisfy our curiosity which would lead to chips. (At least I imagined it.) The word, natural, acts as a glittering generality and makes us think that the product must be healthy or good for you. We always want to get our hands on something healthy as average humans.
The agricultural scene enhances the glittering generality because it provides imagery which uses another sense. They might be using patriotism because of the plain old farmer in the picture. The mountains remind viewers of nature which relates to natural too. The viewer is influenced that it's made in America (I really don't know if it is or not.) Even the name Lays sounds very American. It has a soothing touch and very simple. That's what appeals a lot of people.
