Media Log #1:It's so beautiful
This 2012 Proctor & Gamble commercial took me by surprise and of course, that's what they aimed for. With it's super light yet powerful background music while showcasing mom and child interaction, there has to be a genuine emotional response from its viewers. This commercial used appeal of emotion to evoke the message at the end, "The hardest job in the world, is the best job in the world. Thank you, Mom." It's so beautiful that we either over think its purpose or we accept it completely without any possible doubts. Using the words "best job in the world" refine the viewers thoughts into accepting their company because the majority would accept what ever they see is as "best." Some would go further to compare a mother's job to any other job they have in mind just to come to a final conclusion. But to clarify, this commercial is mostly directed towards all mothers. They used ordinary people which gives them a sense of ease and more of a reason to pay more attention to their company. The child's growth also plays a big part in the whole effect. There's nothing better than watching your baby grow up to become an Olympian champion. When the new champions arise from the small world with their mother, everyone's crying tears of joy and happiness. This supports the main statement said above. Everything shown in the commercial supports their main statement to be precise. That's why its so effective, even to a dull person like me.
